We often get questions about our methods. Lots of you know that we like to challenge ourselves. I heard that! Okay, so we’re a bit eccentric. 🙂 As we are often teaching people about how to achieve success with impossible glass cuts, narrow foil and solder lines, glass direction, preparing your stained glass pattern, etc., we’ll occasionally post some tips and tricks here, too.
For instance, we absolutely love the different widths and the high quality of Edco copper foil. It enables us to achieve lots of detail, and solder some teensy-tiny pieces. Teensy-tiny, as in smaller than a dime and narrower than a pencil.
We have found, over the years, that Edco foil has the strongest adhesive in the industry and we love its’ long shelf life. The “soft Copper” really sticks to your glass, saving time and strengthening your finished work.
And we love the results.

I’d love some tips on making solder look less boring – got any ways to jazz it up? I’ve done tiny dots of solder to make a “hobnail” effect, as well as sort of a distressed look by moving the soldering iron from side to side, but I’d love some new ideas!
